Product description

The HBJ 4S 50A Hardware BMS is built for 4S LiFePO₄ battery packs in high-current self-start vehicle applications, giving a 12.8V system that drops straight into the 12V starting circuit of a motorcycle, scooter, ATV or generator. It supports 50A continuous discharge and bursts to 300A peak. That surge rating is the point: a starter motor draws a very large current for a fraction of a second while cranking a petrol engine, and a general-purpose board without that headroom trips on every start. This one is specified to carry it. LiFePO₄ is a strong fit for starting duty. Its 12.8V nominal and ~14.6V full charge sit close to a lead-acid battery, so it works with standard 12V vehicle charging systems, and the chemistry is thermally stable with a long cycle life. The heavy-duty hardware construction handles the starting surge without excessive heating or voltage sag. Protection covers overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, short circuit and abnormal temperature, isolating the pack before cells are damaged and restoring once conditions normalise. This board is LiFePO₄-only - it is set for 3.2V nominal cells and must not be used with 3.7V Li-ion packs. For 3S Li-ion starter packs, use the HBJ 3S 50A instead; for solar and UPS banks without starting loads, the HBJ 4S 30A is the better-matched board.
